Don't look back!

It can be hard sometimes do not focus on the past and look forward to the future, last Sunday at St Paul's we looked at Philippians 3:4-16.

In this letter Paul wanting to inspire his readers to focus on one thing and one thing only discounting all that has happened before. I used the following YouTube clip to demonstrate what is being focused on the race in hand looks like. In this clip you see a runner called Heather, trip and fall over. She could have remained there on the floor, sad at her failure. However, she immediately gets up and not only finishes the race but wins it.

In a subsequent interview Heather stated that it was hearing the announcer say that he believed that she could win, inspired her to push on harder in order to win the race.

In our bible reading today Paul is the announcer seeking to inspire us to focus on God to concentrate on the present and future, entirely dependent on God's provision for us through our saviour Jesus Christ.

What in your life are you still looking back on? What is your major focus? How does this letter from Paul influence you?
