Children and Teens

Children are welcome!

At present only Abbotsbury Church, St Luke's and St Paul's have children's ministry, although we hope to extend that to other churches.  If you have kids, relax - it doesn’t matter if they make a bit of noise.

At Abbotsbury, children go out for their own teaching programme for part of the service, except on the third Sunday when we all stay together. We are passionate about children encountering Jesus. Our team create space for them to explore their relationship with Him through crafts, games, teaching, worship and friendship.

At St Pauls, there is a programme for children on the second and fourth Sundays, aimed at primary school age children.

Safeguarding is integral to our approach to children’s ministry. Please see the notice on Safeguarding on this website for more details.

Young People

Abbotsbury Church (part of the Anglican Parish of Newton Abbot) and The Avenue (Methodist) Church run a monthly youth group on the last Friday of every month from 7.30-9pm.  The venue alternates between Abbotsbury Church and The Avenue. The group is free, is aimed at 11-16's and involves an informal and relaxed mix of games, activities, food and discussions.  We are actively exploring opportunities to link with other churches in the area to make this a more regular event and will be seeking to organise a range of additional social events.

If you, or a young person you know, are interested in coming along please complete the consent form, get it signed off and bring it along to a session.

Leaders

The group is being organised by Rob, Anna (Abbotsbury Church) and Sarah (children’s and families worker at The Avenue). Between us we have 20+ years of making hot chocolate, playing ping pong and discussing matters of life and faith relevant to young people.

Safeguarding & Data Protection

We take safeguarding and data protection very seriously. All youth group leaders have valid and current DBS checks, have been vetted by the Parish and have undertaken the relevant safeguarding training. We will apply all necessary steps to safeguard both the young people and ourselves. Regarding data protection, the  consent form is valid for a period of one year upon signature and records will be destroyed within a period of 18 months. We promise your details will not be passed on to any other third party or be used for any other purposes than those stated above. You can also change your mind about any of the options on the following page at any time by letting one of the team know.  View or download the consent form HERE

If you want to ask any questions or wish to know any further information please do not hesitate to contact either Rob (07792 081776) or Sarah (07709 424558)
